Alexander Zverev is a threat again going into the
US Open believes former six-time major winner and German great,
Boris Becker.
Becker spoke to Eurosport and with the 28-year-old who recently won his first title since his comeback in Hamburg finally starting to hit some form again, he believes he has rejoined the top players again on the ATP Tour.
He also shared his delight at Zverev's physical conditioning which he said gives Zverev the idea in his own head that he is back after testing it on a multitude of different surfaces after his horrific injury at Roland Garros last year.
Now it is about bringing it out in New York and Becker believes that he now has enough match practice and room to grow further ahead of New York.
"He has found his hard-court form, the big hope is, of course, if he can bring that to New York. Now I think he has gained enough match practice over the year, he has gained enough self-confidence. In this respect, he is being taken very seriously again by the world's top players, and that is a good sign for him," Becker said to Eurosport.
"He has now played the tournaments to the end without injury and has actually improved from month to month, and the knot burst in Paris. He was okay on grass, I'll call it that, and then he won Hamburg, and I think now he's also back in his head, where he says 'Okay, I've done my homework, physically I'm fit'," Becker added.
