With American tennis star Taylor Fritz playing some of the best tennis of his career, doubles icon Mike Bryan believes his compatriot sees himself as a Grand Slam title contender.
The former World No.5 reached the quarterfinals at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships, his fourth straight final eight appearance at a Grand Slam event after reaching the same stage at Roland Garros a few weeks earlier. Fritz had made it to the quarterfinals at last year's US Open and this year's Australian Open, losing to Novak Djokovic on both occasions.

Fritz confident he can break through at a Major, says Bryan

Although Fritz has captured eight career ATP titles, the 26-year old is yet to make it past the quarterfinal at a Grand Slam event. Having captured 18 doubles and four mixed doubles titles at the Grand Slam level, Mike Bryan believes Fritz has the confidence to win a Major title.
"He’s got a great coaching staff, and he’s really confident," said Mike Bryan. “He’s worked a lot on his movement, so he’s covering quite a lot of defense but he brings a lot of firepower. He thinks he’s the best, his head is very strong, he actually believes he can win Grand Slams."
Being the highest-ranked American, most attention will be on Fritz during the upcoming US Open as fans wait for the next male American singles Grand Slam champion. However, the World No.11 will have to compete at the summer Olympic Games, which will take place in Paris before heading back to the United States for the North American summer hard court season.
