Novak Djokovic is certainly showcasing himself for a great end of the year no matter if he plays at the ATP Finals or not next week as he is into the final and will be favourite to eclipse his 100 mark into 101 for titles come the end of the week at the
Hellenic Championship.
Djokovic has given fans that perhaps may not get the opportunity in his new home of Greece to see him play this week with the Serbian not one for ATP 250's ordinarily. But he runs the tournament which was previously ran in Belgrade so in reality he was always going to play the first edition in the new country where he now resides.
He has been superb all week and saw off
Yannick Hanfmann on Friday to reach the summit. He won through 6-3, 6-4 and is now 30-0 in 2025 after winning the first set. It is a 144th career final and a 95th on hardcourt. It is also his third of the season overall showing as the phrase goes, there is life in the old dog yet and he certainly shows no signs of slowing down despite the retirement talk swirling again this week around the media.
Also astonishingly he has reached finals in 23 different countries. A career that has taken him across the world and a new country even at this point in his career has been ticked off by the legendary Serbian. Now title 101 could await on Saturday.
He overcame a mid-match stumble to see off Hanfmann. He lost his serve for the first time this week in the second set but swiftly reasserted his control to maintain his record of 30-0 this year after winning the opening set. Winning in 79 minutes, he improved to 3-0 over Hanfmann after winning in Shanghai last month and awaits either Lorenzo Musetti or Sebastian Korda.
A big game as Musetti could yet book his spot at the ATP Finals after Felix Auger-Aliassime decided to give him a leave it up to him conundrum. He withdrew from the Moselle Open and threw the gauntlet down and one he is taking as of right now but he likely has to avert Djokovic who has often struggled against to get that chance.
Djokovic has had a confidence boosting week as he snapped a four-match semi-final losing streak losing at the penultimate hurdle at Roland Garros, Wimbledon, US Open and Shanghai.
