World number four
Casper Ruud has revealed that the 22-time
Grand Slam winner
Rafael Nadal has a ‘strange’ routine while playing golf.
The 37-year-old is currently recovering from a hip injury he
sustained in the second round of the Australian Open earlier this year where he
suffered a defeat against Mackenzie McDonald with a score of 6-4, 6-4, 7-5.
Since then, Nadal has not played a single professional tennis
match, missing the
French Open in the process as well.
The Mallorca-born is set to miss the third Grand Slam of the
year which will be played from 03-16 July in London.
Despite missing the on-field action, Nadal remains in the
news for his other activities. This time, the two-time French Open finalist Ruud
came up with a revelation that the 14-time winner at the Roland Garros has an ‘awful
swing’ while playing golf.
"He has a lot of strange routines, even in golf,"
he said
as quoted by Sportkeeda. "I played with Rafa twice and he shot
under par both of them. If he watches this, I'm just going to take sh*t from
him because his swing is awful, it looks so bad but he makes it work
somehow."
Ruud will enter
Wimbledon as the fourth-seeded player and he
will be hoping to finally go all the way after coming short three times in the
final of the Grand Slams — 2022, 2023 in the French Open and 2022 in the US Open.
Despite his heroics in the other Grand Slams, the 24-year-old
has a very average record while playing at Wimbledon where he has never managed to
qualify for the third round or beyond in four attempts.
His best performance came in 2022 where he suffered a second-round
exit after a defeat against France’s Ugo Humbert with a score of 3-6, 6-2, 7-5, 6-4.
