The Middle East continues to be a hot-bead of tennis action with the ATP
Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships set to take place from February 23-March 1 with some phenomenal tennis talents going at each other in the quest for silverware in UAE.
Many tennis fans will be tuning in around the world to watch the competition as the Sunshine swing draws closer. It is great preparation for that, with the number one seed
Felix Auger-Aliassime hotly tipped for more glory. He already has a title to his name in the Open Occitanie and will be looking for more success in Dubai. The losing finalist from last year, the Canadian knows how to compete in this event.
So does
Alexander Bublik who faltered at the same stage a year prior, this time to Ugo Humbert. He is looking to add another title in 2026 and continue the fine form that he has been on going deeper into the year. The Kazakh will target a first ATP 500 title that is not on grass.
It will be intriguing to see how Jack Draper does, whether he competes or not. He represented Great Britain in the Davis Cup qualifier against Norway, coming out as a comfortable winner in his singles match before pulling out of the events in Rotterdam and Qatar. Once he gets back to his best, he will be one of the forces to watch out for on the tour, and Dubai could be the place where he gets that winning touch back.
Between 2021 and 2023, Russia dominated the event as they won three on the spin. The victors in 2022 and 2023 were Andrey Rublev and Daniil Medvedev respectively, with Rublev also making it to the final in 2023. A trio of Russians will hunt down the coveted awards with Karen Khachanov also out of form.
The exciting Jakub Mensik could be an underdog for the title with fellow Czech compatriots Jiri Lehecka and Tomas Machac also in action. The
reigning champion Stefanos Tsitsipas suffered another early exit in the ABN AMRO Open and will be looking worryingly over his shoulder in the rankings with 500 points set to come off. Humbert had that same scenario last year, with the Frenchman looking to find a consistent string of form on the big stage.
