The ATP 500 Vienna Open is one of the most significant events as the ATP Tour returns to European indoor courts for the final part of the season. The tournament will feature four Top-10 players and eight Top-20 players who will be looking to secure victories on indoor hardcourts ahead of the last Masters 1000 of the season—the Paris Masters—one week later.
Most of the major stars are now closely approaching the end of the season, in what is the last week with ATP 500 tournaments—which are being held simultaneously in Vienna and Basel. In the Austrian capital, players like Andy Murray, David Ferrer, Dominic Thiem, and Juan Martín del Potro have lifted the title, and more recently, stars like Zverev, Medvedev, and Sinner.
World No. 2 Jannik Sinner will be the top favorite in a tournament that will not feature its 2024 champion, Jack Draper, who is absent due to a left arm injury. Nonetheless, it will be a luxury draw, which will include the return of Alexander Zverev (No. 3) and Alex de Minaur (No. 7)—both already thinking about the upcoming ATP Finals.
In addition, there will be special attention on the Italian Lorenzo Musetti (No. 8), who must secure wins (and points) if he hopes to join them in Turin. The 23-year-old currently sits 8th in the Race, but he has Félix Auger-Aliassime closely pursuing him with a good chance of overtaking him if Musetti fails to earn points in the final weeks.
Meanwhile, the draw will offer possibilities for other major names on the Tour, such as former champions Andrey Rublev (2020) and Daniil Medvedev (2022), along with their Russian compatriot Karen Khachanov (No. 13) and the Kazakh Alexander Bublik (No. 16)—all of whom are players who feel comfortable competing on indoor hardcourts and can take advantage of the tournament's conditions.
