Known for producing epic matches over the years, tennis fans eagerly anticipate the annual Shanghai Masters tournament, which is set to run from October 1-12, 2025 in Shanghai, China.
An ATP 1000 Masters event, the Shanghai Masters has a rich history that has seen several top players fall to promising young stars. Introduced in 2009, the fan-favorite tournament has also been acknowledged by the ATP players, who voted the event as ATP Masters 1000 Tournament of the Year for five straight years.
Previous champions range from Swiss Maestro Roger Federer to Serbian superstar Novak Djokovic. Russian tennis star Daniil Medvedev prevailed in 2019, with World No.1 Jannik Sinner the last man standing at last year's edition.
Due to it's popularity on tour, the Shanghai Masters will feature an impressive 96 singles players and 32 doubles teams compete for their respective titles. With the event being one of the final tournaments of the ATP season, players will use the opportunity to end the year on a positive note, while others hope to boost their chances at qualification for the year-ending ATP Finals in Turin.

Sinner and Alcaraz to renew rivalry in Shanghai

The Italian is the defending champion at the event, and he has been in red-hot form on hard courts this season. Despite falling to rival Carlos Alcaraz in the recent US Open final, Sinner is still the final to leave Shanghai with the title.
Alcaraz has also been confirmed for the event, and could face Sinner in another title match should both men progress to the final. The Spaniard dethroned his Italian foe at Flushing Meadows, after losing his crown to Sinner at Wimbledon a few weeks earlier.
Former World No.1 Novak Djokovic has confirmed his participation at the event. The 38-year old is a four-time champion in Shanghai, and will look to prove he can still compete with his younger opponents when he takes to what could be his last tournament of the 2025 season.
Fans eager to catch all the action need not worry as the event is broadcast globally. In the USA, the tournament will be shown in full on Tennis Channel. Sky Sports will show the tournament in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, South Tyrol, Italy, San Marino, and Vatican City. While in Australia it is shown on beIN Sports, in New Zealand it is shown on DAZN.
beIN Sports also shows the event in France. Canal+ ordinarily shows the tournaments in Poland, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia, but all are out of the reckoning for this tournament, as well as Nottingham, Iasi, Sao Paolo, Wuhan, Guangzhou, and Jiujiang. Eleven Sports shows the event in Portugal.
