Although Dominic Thiem looked down during his semifinal match, he was never out as he rallied to advance to his maiden US Open final.

The World No.3 defeated Daniil Medvedev in a hard-hitting semifinal match, and now has another opportunity to win his first Grand Slam title.
"I love these big matches. To face the best guys in the world is what I do the hard work for at home and in the off-season," Thiem said on court after the match. "After the first set, it was great tennis from both of us. I could have easily been down two-sets-to-one. I'm really happy to be through. It was a great semi-final."
The final should be electric as Thiem will face Alexander Zverev, who is also hoping to claim his maiden Major trophy. This will be Thiem's fourth Grand Slam final, as the Austrian lost twice to Rafael Nadal at Roland Garros and once to Novak Djokovic at the Australian Open. Zverev will be competing in his first Grand Slam final, and the German has lost his last three matches against Thiem.
"It's all or nothing," Thiem said. "It's going to be a completely open match... I'm really looking forward to that. We have such a great friendship and rivalry. It's amazing that we're going to face each other in a Grand Slam final."
