Carlos Alcaraz has done it. The world number 2 will play his first quarterfinals of the Australian Open after playing brilliant tennis to destroy Miomir Kecmanovic by a score of 4-6, 4-6, 0-6. The Spaniard will face Alexander Zverev in the next round for a place in the semifinals.
The match was dominated from start to finish by Alcaraz who offered the Melbourne public his best level in the first Grand Slam of the season so far. Everything went well for a 'Carlitos' who arrives to the key moment of the tournament inspired, and he made it clear in his declarations after the match. "Today everything went well", said the Spaniard.
"I'm feeling very well, I'm at home in Melbourne and I hope to keep improving even more," he added. Regarding his quarterfinal against Zverev, the Spaniard said: "I love facing him, they are matches of great intensity and I know I will have to give my 100% to win," he said.
To conclude, Alcaraz laughingly explained one of the rituals that is helping him play at a high level at the Australian Open: "The night before every match I always try to eat sushi. I don't really have a favorite place to eat, I love to try different things here in Melbourne. But the sushi... It's the best," concluded the world No. 2, who will face his first big test in the next round.

- Great article! I began cheering for the “real” doubles specialists at the beginning but once they all lost their respective matches I really didn’t care who actually won the whole tournament. I liked the last four teams in the semifinals and would have enjoyed seeing any of them win the trophy!
