A former world no. 1 and the 2003 US Open champion Andy Roddick finished his career at the home Major in 2012 following an emotional loss to Juan Martin del Potro.
"The Davis Cup title we won in 2007 in Portland is probably my most favorite one; we worked hard to earn it. I beat Rafael Nadal in Miami 2010, but my most cherished victory at that event came in 2001 when I was 18, beating Pete Sampras in straight sets.
Answering some random questions from tennis fans, Roddick said that his most favorite tournament victory came at the Davis Cup in 2007, as the entire team worked hard for many months before winning the title in Portland. Also, Andy picked two notable Miami victories, one against Rafael Nadal in 2010 and the one that came nine years earlier.
The young gun stunned his idol Pete Sampras 7-6, 6-3 in under 80 minutes, earning his first top-5 victory and cracking the top-100 at 18. Andy also mentioned Roger Federer and his incredible calmness on the practice court and essential matches, saying he was nowhere near that.
It was my first time on national TV, and you only play your idol for the first time once. Unlike me, Roger Federer was always relaxed before the match, and I was always jealous about that. When I care about something, I'm pretty high strung," Andy Roddick said.
