With the 2026 Winter Olympics scheduled to take place in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy; World No.2
Jannik Sinner has expressed his desire to attend the quadrennial event.
The multi-sport event will take place from February 6-22, 2026 as fans from all over the world converge on both cities to support their favorite athletes. The opening ceremony will take place at the infamous San Siro stadium, with the final act occurring at the Verona Arena.
Being one of the most respected figures in Italy, Sinner has been questioned on his participation at the popular sporting event. The San Candido native has been vocal in promoting the Winter Olympics in his native Italy, and announced he would be a volunteer for the event.
Although Sinner has stated he would like to attend the Winter Olympics next February, the grueling ATP schedule may not afford him much free time. However, the reigning Wimbledon champion remains ecstatic regarding the importance of having such a celebrated event in his hometown.
More fans will be exposed to the hidden aesthetics' of his hometown, says Sinner
In an interview promoting next year's Winter Olympics, the four-time Grand Slam champion was asked about his involvement at the event.
"Yes, I’m gonna be a volunteer, you know, which I announced already five times," said Sinner. "I would like to be there of course, it’s gonna be a massive event, you know, there are already preparing. It’s gonna be very very big and it’s gonna be very important.
"People will get to know also a different part of the world, which is natural mountains and snow and everything. It’s gonna be a great event for sure."
After falling to Carlos Alcaraz in the final of last month's US Open, Sinner would embark on a title-run at the China Open. The Italian defeated rising American star Learner Tien in the final to win his third title of the season.
Following his victory at the China Open, Sinner would enter the
Shanghai Masters where he cruised through his opening round match. However, the World No.2 would be forced to retire in his third round match against Tallon Griekspoor, citing cramps precipitated by the intense heat and humidity in Shanghai.
