In our Daily Dose of Social Media, we take a look back at some of the moments you may have missed from Tuesday 28 May at the 2024 French Open. As we reach the second round at Roland Garros, it has produced another day of top content.
Casper Ruud, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Iga Swiatek and Nick Kyrgios are among those spotlighted on the latest set of Daily Dose of Social Media.

Ruud gets revenge for father

A facet revealed after Casper Ruud defeated Felipe Meligeni Alves was that it had revenge to it despite them never playing. In reality, it was to do with his father who bizarrely lost to his uncle Fernando Meligeni back in 1995
Christian Ruud who now coaches Casper Ruud lost out in his main chance to win an ATP title to Fernando Meligeni in the 1995 Bastad Open final which Casper said they spoke about at breakfast.
“We talked about it for breakfast, actually,” said the two-time finalist. “My father, he lost the Bastad final one time in his career, so he was never able to win an ATP tournament, and the guy he lost to in the final was Felipe's uncle.”
“It was worth the wait, I guess. It was many years we had to wait, but we got it today.”

Tsitsipas join compatriot in giant croissant stakes

Maria Sakkari had a giant croissant earlier in the week from her sponsors Adidas and it seems to be a Greek tradition. The Greek ace will continue his campaign against Daniel Altmaier tomorrow and it seems he may need to do some work in the gym to burn that off.
He was seen chowing down on the giant croissant also given to him by Adidas in a video posted on his social media on Tuesday. He also wasn't in the stands to watch Paula Badosa with his match being at 11am tomorrow.

ASMR continues with famous introduction for Rafael Nadal in a different light

Yesterday saw some of the top tennis stars give their take on ASMR with multiple French words. Novak Djokovic, Coco Gauff, Caroline Garcia and Carlos Alcaraz all featured.
But there was a crossover in the latest video as Marc Maury who does the introductions onto Philippe-Chatrier bringing one of the best viral moments of Rafael Nadal v Alexander Zverev to a different light.
Maury did the famous introduction where he listed Nadal's achievements in one of the biggest sporting flexes. He did the same to the microphone using ASMR. Truly superb.

Kyrgios back practicing with new hope for fans

Could Nick Kyrgios return in time for the US Open? He gave fans hope on Tuesday as he posted another teaser that he was back on court and hitting balls ahead of his tennis comeback.
It won't be imminent though with Kyrgios signing up to commentate at Wimbledon. So the earliest it will be will be the US hard court swing. This is fairly evident with Kyrgios practicing on outdoor and indoor hard courts in recent weeks.
The Aussie ace has been absent since Stuttgart last year in which he played Yibing Wu before curtailing his season again due to injury which he has since never returned from.

Swiatek does the dirty work during matches and practice

Known to paint the lines on a clay court better than anyone else, Iga Swiatek also does the same when it comes to cleaning the court as she evidenced during her practice today. She will return tomorrow to face off against Naomi Osaka in the game of the day in the Women's Draw.
She dragged across the tool used to clean the court with great precision as she showed that despite being World No.1 doing the manual tasks isn't out of the realms for her. But will paint the lines again tomorrow against the former World No.1? Time will tell.

Sabalenka crushes bigger forehand speed than the World No.1 elect in ATP

Albeit there are different factors to base it on, the true power of Aryna Sabalenka was truly shown as she cranked down a forehand that couldn't be hit by men. She produced a 125km/h forehand on average compared to Jannik Sinner who hit 122km/h on average in his opener.
Sabalenka thrashed Erika Andreeva and is known for her outrageous power and this was shown again. Truly unstoppable from the Belarusian.
