Injury concerns playing on mind of Tsitsipas ahead of Indian Wells: "Don’t think I will be capable of going deep"

Stefanos Tsitsipas doesn't expect to do very well at the Indian Wells Masters as he still recovers from the shoulder injury that saw him withdraw from Acapulco.

Tsitsipas missed one of his favourite events (Acapulco) due to a shoulder injury and he's still recovering. The Greek started well in Australia getting to the final but hasn't played much since then due to a shoulder injury that still affects him. He admitted before the event that he's not expecting anything from the Sunshine double:

"I am still in recovery and I won’t be pretending … that I have chances of doing well in these next two tournaments, because that would be wrong. I haven’t said it a lot of times in my career but I don’t think I will be capable of going deep. The main priority is getting my body ready and fixed for the clay court swing."

Clay has been a good surface for him in past years as he was able to win a few events on it in the past. He'll likely be dangerous again but he needs to into a good rhythm for it. Getting right is his main priority:

"I need to take my time and have the right medical team by my side to help me recover to the fullest and not have complications like this in the future."

Asked why he's playing the Sunshine double he said:

"I made a deal with myself that I will not be skipping the next two events."
