Former British number one
Tim Henman believes Spain’s young star
Carlos Alcaraz is the best ‘mover’ he has seen playing tennis at the highest
level.
The 20-year-old is termed as one of the most highly-rated young
players currently playing in the men’s singles category in the circuit alongside
Italy’s Jannik Sinner and America’s Ben Shelton.
Henman was recently quoted in a report where he stated that
despite being so young, Alcaraz is the best mover he has seen playing in the
game at the highest level.
“Is he the best mover to have ever played the game?” asked
Henman. “There have been some phenomenal movers, but from where I am sitting, I
haven’t seen many quicker. We have had some great movers in the sport, but
Alcaraz is right up there. There have been plenty of great movers in tennis,
but his flexibility and control at the end of it is exceptional. His movement
is just phenomenal.”
Alcaraz became the talk of the town after securing the Wimbledon
title earlier this year following his win over Serbia’s Novak Djokovic in a
five-set thrilling final with a score of 1–6, 7–6(8–6), 6–1, 3–6, 6–4.
The two are set to
face off again in another mouthwatering tie in the semifinal of the
ATP Finals
on Saturday.
