Carlos Alcaraz will take on Jannik Sinner in the big clash of Friday at the 2024 French Open as the two top players to lead the next generation of tennis collide but the coach of the former Juan Carlos Ferrero sees it as still difficult for him due to injury.
Alcaraz injured his forearm earlier this season and missed multiple tournaments including Barcelona back at home as well as Rome. He has looked superb so far this tournament though apart from against Jesper de Jong.
He puts himself in position for a third Grand Slam title this weekend and faces Jannik Sinner who he is locked in a superb rivalry with. They currently sit at 4-4 a piece and both have also battled injury issues during this tournament. Sinner came into the tournament with a damaged hip so both have had ailments.
But both have broken through the barriers of injury. Ferrero though spoke about his confidence at hitting right again and said that he is 95% again. But that it is still difficult and still has problems in certain facets in hitting with his forearm. He admitted though that it is the ongoing territory with such an injury. Alcaraz and Sinner contend their tie at just after 14:30 CET this afternoon in the match of the day in Paris. Buckle up as it is going to be good.
"No, honestly not," said Ferrero, according to Punto de Break. "I think that in the end an injury like that is never good. One because it has made it a little difficult for us to be able to play the entire clay season, which is always important for us."
"And then, when it comes to hitting the right again with 100% confidence, today I would say it is at 95%. It is still difficult for him to finish hitting the right hand with that naturalness that he hit before because that injury to his arm always makes him pay attention to it a little bit," he noted.
