"It wasn’t anymore a life of private jets and high standard hotels": Juan Carlos Ferrero discusses difference between coaching Alcaraz and jet-setting Zverev

Juan Carlos Ferrero used to coach Alexander Zverev but it didn't work out as well as it did with Carlos Alcaraz whom he is currently coaching.

As a former world number one, Ferrero was able to guide Alcaraz to the same achievement and it's simply a relationship that works well for both. Ferrero remembers how he met Alcaraz and called the decision to become his coach 'a big one'. Comparing his stint with Zverev to coaching Alcaraz, Ferrero said:

"It was a big decision to take. It was the opposite of what I lived with Zverev in the past. It wasn’t anymore a life of private jets and high-standard hotels."

He continued:

"His family is a tennis family because his father was a pro, it helped me to get it. And his manager, Albert Molina, is a guy I know for a long time. I have a very good relationship with him. To build a project from the beginning was something important for me."

Ferrero will have some time to spend with family as Alcaraz nurses yet another injury but very soon it's going to be busy for the both of them. Roland Garros is a goal for them and the Spaniard will certainly have his chances.
