Stefanos Tsitsipas may have lost against Christopher Eubanks, but admitted that he found himself again during 2023
Wimbledon.
Tsitsipas said victory over Dominic Thiem felt empty and strange to him in the opening round as he came from a set down to win through.
But the Andy Murray win almost gave him a new purpose. This after Tsitsipas spent most of the grass court season losing and making headlines more due to his relationship with Paula Badosa.
But speaking to SDNA, hee said that while he hasn't analysed it fully yet, he feels like he's found himself again after a poor few weeks.
“The win over Thiem felt empty, when I made that passing shot, I felt no joy, no emotion. That seemed strange to me. But the match that blew me away was Murray. It's like I was reborn & I found myself again. I found the real Stefanos," he said to
SDNA.
"I haven't analyzed it enough, I haven't had time to sit down and talk to someone to come to a conclusion and understand what exactly it was. The last three weeks on tour have not been easy. I know I can play on grass, but I haven't had any results. It was very frustrating to want so much and get nothing back. It was probably that, it was probably also that I've played too much tennis in this half year.
"I've hit thousands of balls, I've put in hundreds of practices trying to get better. I've played a lot of matches, I don't know how many, must be around 50-60. The mind also has this limit, which you reach at some point no matter how much you love what you do. But I also feel confused because I managed to find it again on my own this week."
