Novak Djokovic has said he is pain free heading into the Australian Open with the 24-time Grand Slam champion and 10-time Australian Open champion who is hunting for number 11 this fortnight between 14-28 January will begin his campaign against Dino Prizmic on Saturday night.
Djokovic has had scares aplenty since his loss to Alex de Minaur at the United Cup with his Australian Open seen as being in doubt despite it being an injury which has manifested itself before in his career and he said he is fine and is feeling good in his practice sessions as he aims to attack another Grand Slam.
"My wrist is good. I had time from the last match against De Minaur in the United Cup to my first match here to recover. I've been training well. Practice sessions pain-free so far. It's good. It's all looking good. Let's see how it goes."
Albeit despite that, there is some unknown with Djokovic saying it's not as bad as previous injuries, but like anything it could soon break down when he is in a match scenario so he can't say 100% for sure that the injury is fully gone. Proof will be in the pudding when he faces the young Croat.
"It's not as bad as some other injuries I had here. 2021 and last year I had worse injuries that I had to deal with. So, yeah, I mean, I can't predict whether it's going to come back. Once I start playing more matches, stress levels go higher. I don't know. We have to find out."
