Happy to be home with all my family and due to the current unfortunate circumstances I’ve had to make a few new special friends this holiday season. Merry Christmas everyone!🎄
The 19-year-old Jannik Sinner is the youngest player in the top-100, finishing his 2020 duties in the top-40 following a couple of notable results in the season's closing stages.
The Italian made a breakthrough run in the previous two seasons, starting 2019 from outside the top-500 and becoming one of the teenagers to watch. Jannik won three Challenger titles in 2019 and scored his first ATP wins, reaching the semi-final in Antwerp and closing the season with the ATP Next Gen Finals crown, beating more experienced and better-ranked rivals in Milan.
After a slower start of 2020, Sinner found his A-game in Rome in September, sending that momentum towards Paris and reaching the first Major quarter-final on Roland Garros debut! Sinner was the semi-finalist in Cologne before wrapping up the year in Sofia, claiming the ATP 250 trophy and becoming the youngest ATP champion since Kei Nishikori in Delray Beach 2008!
Jannik will kick off the 2021 season in Antalya, hoping for a strong start and an impressive run at the first Major of the season at the Australian Open that starts on February 8. Sinner had a chance to train with Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer in Melbourne last year, including two great champions on his perfect player list.
In creating an ideal competitor, Jannik would take John Isner's serve, Roger Federer's forehand, Novak Djokovic's backhand and Rafael Nadal's mental strength and fighting spirit. No doubt, that would have been a mighty formidable rival to beat, even for the players from the top.
