Serbia’s legendary tennis star
Novak Djokovic has achieved yet
another milestone. The 36-year-old is often regarded as the greatest player in
the history of men’s tennis in the singles category, having won as many as 24
Grand Slam titles.
Djokovic achieved yet another milestone as he became the
first player in the history of men’s tennis to remain the world number one for
416 weeks which is equal to eight years.
Interestingly, no other player in the same category even
managed to remain at the top of the ATP rankings for six years. Swiss legendary
tennis star Roger Federer is the second on the list as he remained as the world
number one for 310 weeks which is equivalent to five years and 50 weeks.
America’s
Pete Sampras is third on the list as he remained
at the top of the rankings for 286 weeks which is equivalent to five years and
26 weeks.
Djokovic is currently taking part in the ATP 1000 event
named Indian Wells where he already booked his place in the third round after
beating Australia’s Aleksandar Vukic in the round of 64 with a score of 6-2,
5-7, 6-3. He is now set to face Italy’s Luca Nardi on Tuesday.
