Gael Monfils was supposed to make his comeback at the Open 13 Provence in Marseille next week but the French player withdrew from the event further postponing his comeback.
His last match on the ATP Tour was in August of 2022 when he retired from a match against Jack Draper due to an injury. It's been a battle ever since then got himself on the court with minor problems arising in the process. His ranking has dropped to 210th in the meantime, a long way from his career-best ranking of 6.
The 36-year-old expressed desire to return to the top form in order to play once more at the Olympics which will be held next year in Paris. There has been some chatter that Monfils might retire at that event but getting there means he would have to be ranked in the top 4 French players which he currently isn't.
For now, he's trying to get on the court with no update provided. It's unclear when his return will happen but the more time he misses the more his fans become worried.
