Argentinian tennis star
Diego Schwartzman has revealed that
he has never thought about leaving the sport despite having to deal with a lot
of difficult situations.
The 31-year-old is currently taking part in the
Shanghai Masters
where he has already booked his place in the round of 16 after defeating
America’s Taylor Fritz with a score of 6-4, 3-6, 7-6.
Schwartzman was quoted in a report recently where he stated
that despite having difficulties with traveling fatigue and fitness, he never
thought about quitting tennis.
“I never considered leaving tennis, I never said this,” he
said. “What I did experience was a combination of many things, something that
is always difficult for South American players to handle.”
“Since we are away from home much more than the rest, months
and months away from your people. We're talking about 7-8 months traveling
non-stop, competing far from home, without seeing your family and friends.
“Although well, I recognize that when things are going well
for you, you also feel that stress and mental pressure. Today I am very happy
for everything I did, I am still very happy, so I will try to play as many
tournaments as I can to maintain this level. If I show this level, even if I
lose, I am satisfied.”
Schwartzman will now
face Chile’s Nicolas Jarry in the round of 16 clash on Tuesday.
