World No.2 Rafael Nadal keeps adding more accolades to his already distinguished career, as the legend of the Spaniard continues to grow.
Having just won a record 13th Roland Garros title and tied Roger Federer with 20 Grand Slam singles titles, the 34-year old has added another exceptional achievement. As of October 26, Nadal etched his name in history books by becoming the player to have spent the most consecutive weeks in the ATP Top 10.
The Spaniard first broke into the Top 10 of the ATP Rankings on April 25 2005, a month before claiming his maiden Grand Slam title at Roland Garros. He has since maintained his position among the world's best, as he is currently in his 789th consecutive week inside the Top 10.
Having eclipsed Roger Federer's record of 735 consecutive weeks last year to ascend to second place, the Spaniard surpassed retired American Jimmy Connors mark of 788 consecutive weeks to hold the top position on this illustrious list.
This achievement is a testament to Nadal's overall consistency, as the Spaniard has managed to produce astounding results despite his injury-prone career. World No.1 Novak Djokovic spent 555 consecutive weeks in the Top 10, from March 3 2007 till October 28 2017. The Serbian eventually fell out of this elite group after he was forced to undergo elbow surgery that sidelined him for a few months at the end of 2017.
