Alexander Zverev has been taking part in the Mexican Swing over the last two weeks. First, reaching the semi finals of
Los Cabos Open, before suffering a shock loss in the first round at the
Mexican Open to compatriot Daniel Altmaier.
Despite this, Zverev accomplished a rare feat. He is just the ninth player to amass $40 million in career earnings, joining an exclusive club, with only Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Pete Sampras and Andy Murray winning more in prize money on the ATP Tour. Venus Williams and Simona Halep are the two WTA representatives.
Despite not winning a Grand Slam yet, the 26-year-old has had a stellar career to-date. Zverev has won 21 ATP singles titles - including two
ATP Finals - and was a runner-up at the US Open in 2020.
The German also won a gold medal at the
Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2021.
Zverev has already won close to $1.5 million so far in 2024, helping Germany win the United Cup and reaching the semi finals of the Australian Open.
