Despite a quite open feud in the past,
Nick Kyrgios doesn't pay any attention to the controversial comments that
Stefanos Tsitsipas apologised for after Netflix Break Point.
The second part sees the fiery encounter between Tsitsipas and Kyrgios with no love lost and the Greek called him uneducated and NBA like.
Tennis fans lashed out for potential racist connotations and Tsitsipas issued an apology and clarification.
"I want to emphasize that I harbor no prejudice towards anyone based on their background, ethnicity, or interests. I deeply regret if my words were misinterpreted or caused offense, as that was never my intention. It is true that I love the game of basketball and have been a devoted fan for years. The excitement, skill, and competitiveness of the sport have always resonated with me," said Tsitsipas as part of his statement.
"However, my admiration for basketball should not be misconstrued as a dismissal or belittlement of other sports, including tennis."
No bad blood for Kyrgios
But for Kyrgios, it is water off a ducks back as he responded on Twitter saying that deep down he knows that Tsitsipas is a fan of his tennis.
"It was a very heated battle sometimes as players we go into these press conferences without digesting the match," he said. "We’ve had some crazy battles and I know deep down you like my brand of tennis. We are all good."
For Kyrgios in the run-up to Wimbledon, he will not join Tsitsipas in Mallorca as he withdrew earlier on Saturday afternoon.
This means he will not play again until at least Wimbledon with a potential withdrawal not beyond the realms of possibility.
