Novak Djokovic has reached yet another milestone this week and one that has been in the pipeline for some time with the World No.1 reaching 418 weeks at the summit as the top player in the ATP Ranking.
Djokovic as a result has doubled the amount of weeks spent at World Number One both in ATP and WTA and sits alone in a record that is unlikely to ever be broken. He is currently on 418 weeks as of March 25, 2024 and Rafael Nadal who is unlikely to return to the at spot in his career is on 209 weeks. The only viable player who could get close is Carlos Alcaraz, but he sits on 36 weeks meaning that this is unlikely to ever be topped.
In terms of Iga Swiatek, she is the current forerunner in terms of active WTA players with 96 weeks, but is far away even from Rafael Nadal. In the overall scheme of the statistics, it sits at eight years and 40% of his career. A statistic that is mindblowing and is unlikely to be beaten. He also will add to it likely for a number of months with no discernible threat yet to the World No.1 spot. It will come eventually, but even if it is the last time that he sits on the throne, he will stand alone.
