Novak Djokovic became the player with the most victories in Masters 1000 tournaments after a notable win over Camilo Ugo Carabelli, 6-1, 7-6. The world No. 5 already held most of the Masters 1000 records, but his run at the Miami Open has now completed his collection.
Djokovic's impressive list of achievements seems endless. In Masters 1000 tournaments, he reigns supreme with 40 titles — more than any other player — and 19 additional finals appearances.
This time, he secured his 411th victory in a Masters 1000 main draw, making him the player with the most wins since the format was created back in 1990. The Serbian entered the Miami Open just one win behind Rafael Nadal, and his victories over Rinky Hijikata and Carabelli have now put him ahead of the Spaniard.
Nadal, for his part, has claimed 36 titles and reached 17 finals, with a total record of 406 wins and 90 losses. With this achievement, Djokovic cements his place as the greatest Masters 1000 player, even though he hasn’t played more than four tournaments in this category per year over the last five seasons.
In terms of total wins, Roger Federer (381), Andy Murray (230), and Andre Agassi (209) are further behind. In fact, Djokovic has nearly double the victories of Agassi, one of the sport’s most iconic players.
Nole now faces a tough challenge in the Round of 16 against Italian Lorenzo Musetti (15th seed). The Serbian hasn’t reached the Miami Open quarter-finals since 2016, when he claimed his third consecutive title at the event (sixth overall). He’s currently tied with Agassi for the most titles in Miami Open history.
