Pegula joins fans for funicular ride in Miami

Jessica Pegula took part in a video with fans, answering a series of questions and enjoying the views from Miami's skies. Fans had the chance to ride a funicular with the World No. 4. It was a dream day for the fans, who, besides the beautiful views and spending time with one of the best players in the world, drank champagne, received autographs from Pegula, and even had a FaceTime chat with 2025 Australian Open champion Madison Keys, after Pegula agreed to call her.

Pegula has been performing well at the Miami Open, having beaten Bernarda Pera and Anna Kalinskaya (32nd seed). The match against the Russian was decided by fine margins in a tough encounter where Pegula had to come back from a set down (6-7, 6-2, 7-6). In the round of 16, she will face Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk (23rd seed), with whom she has a 2-1 record in their previous three hardcourt encounters.

In addition to the huge victory for the three-time Grand Slam champion, she stole the spotlight during the on-court interview when she began dancing after the interviewer commented, "Did we catch you dancing on court a bit?" referring to the great level she displayed in the first set against the Romanian.

"Sometimes, if I’m in the mood, it’s tough to stop. But I was like ‘come on Aryna, you’re in the match, you can’t let it go.’ But I was feeling the rhythm, you know?"

After this, the DJ was encouraged to play some music, and Sabalenka began dancing happily on the court after her victory.

Eala’s passionate celebration after Keys victory

Alexandra Eala achieved the best victory of her career by defeating World No. 5 Madison Keys, the Australian Open champion earlier this year. The Filipino is making history at the Miami Open with her remarkable results, unprecedented for a player from her country. The 19-year-old had a phenomenal performance against the local player, eliminating her with a 6-4, 6-2 scoreline, advancing to the Round of 16. She has already defeated Katie Volynets and Jelena Ostapenko (25th seed) in earlier rounds, still without dropping a set.

What caught attention was the emotional reaction of the World No. 140, who shouted and celebrated exuberantly on the court. Eala showed off her full personality to the audience and ran to embrace her team members, including her coach Joan Bosch, with whom she works at the Rafa Nadal Academy. The academy's official social media highlighted this moment.

Eala will face World No. 10 Paula Badosa in the next round, looking to pull off another surprise in what has been the best tournament of her career so far. The Filipino has already secured her best ranking as World No. 117 starting Monday, but she can continue to climb in the rankings as she rapidly approaches the top 100.

Wozniacki embraces cowboy style in family photos

Former World No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki shared several family photos on social media alongside her husband and daughter Olivia, all dressed in cowboy-style outfits. The former Australian Open champion hasn’t competed since the 2024 US Open, after resuming her career a year earlier. Wozniacki was expected to appear at the Australian Open earlier this year, but an injury kept her off the courts, and it’s still unclear when she’ll return to the WTA Tour, with no confirmed tournaments in the coming weeks. “Someone wanted to join mom and dad on their night out,” she posted on X account

Fernandez bids farewell to Miami Open

Leylah Fernandez bid farewell to the Miami Open with an emotional message of gratitude to the fans. The former US Open runner-up has struggled to make deep runs in the biggest tournaments and continues to seek consistency on the Tour. The 26th seed defeated Alycia Parks in the opener but had little chance against 20-year-old Ashlyn Krueger in the third round, who convincingly beat her 6-1, 7-5.

Nevertheless, the Canadian aimed to focus on the positives after wrapping up her participation in the Sunshine Double. Fernandez now shifts her attention to the clay-court swing, though her first tournament on the surface has yet to be confirmed.

“Embracing the journey. Thanks to everyone who came to cheer for me at @miamiopen 🧡 I loved having you guys on my side,” the former World No. 13 posted.
