Spanish tennis player
Carlos Alcaraz is ready to face one of the most important challenges of the season, with his confirmed participation in this year's Queen's tournament. The young player from Murcia, currently ranked number two in the world, will be looking to retain the title he masterfully won last year at this prestigious grass-court tournament.
The 2023 edition marked a milestone in Alcaraz's career, as he won the trophy at Queen's, his first title on this surface. This triumph preceded his impressive victory at Wimbledon, where he defeated the legendary Novak Djokovic in an electrifying final.
Alcaraz's participation at Queen's last year was particularly significant, as in 2022 he was forced to withdraw from the tournament due to an elbow injury. However, he made a strong comeback in 2023 to reclaim his place at the top of world grass-court tennis.
Despite an irregular start to the year, with only two tournaments played so far, Alcaraz has demonstrated his quality on the court. He made it to the quarterfinals at the Australian Open and recently reached the semifinals at the ATP 250 in Buenos Aires.
Next Tuesday, Alcaraz will kick off his campaign at the Rio de Janeiro tournament, where he will face the talented Brazilian player Thiago Monteiro. He is also scheduled to play a special exhibition alongside fellow countryman and tennis legend Rafael Nadal in Las Vegas on March 3. Afterwards, he will focus on the challenges of the prestigious Masters 1000 in Indian Wells and Miami.
