Three’ rivals in the Davis Cup record. The 38-year-old is regarded as one of the
best players in the history of men’s tennis in the singles category in the Open
era, having won as many as 22 Grand Slam titles.
Currently, in men’s tennis, the most notable event is the Davis Cup, where teams representing different countries compete to secure the ultimate prize. Looking at the overall record of players in the competition's history, one player who definitely stood out is Nadal. The former
world number one has a fabulous record while playing in the competition.
He produced numerous memorable performances over the years, which helped Spain win the titles four times as well. His overall record has been very impressive: He won 37 times and lost on just five occasions in 42 matches. The 22-time Grand Slam winner’s win percentage in the Davis Cup was 88%. His singles record in the competition has been even more impressive: He won 29
out of 30 encounters. His only defeat came in the first match of his Davis Cup career.
Former world number one Switzerland’s Roger Federer and another
member of that original ‘Big Three’ is clearly behind the Spaniard in this. The
43-year-old, who finished his career in 2022 after winning 20 Grand Slams
in his illustrious career, has managed to win 52 out of 70 matches with a win
percentage of 74 %. His singles record has been very impressive where he won on
40 occasions and suffered just eight defeats in 48 outings.
Serbia’s Djokovic, who is regarded as the greatest player in
the history of men’s tennis in the singles category, is third in this comparison
as he has an overall record of 44 wins in 60 outings with a win percentage of
73.33 %.
