Despite missing Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal this year, Team Europe easily claimed their fourth Laver Cup title with the sound defeat of Team World over the weekend.
Although Federer did not participate at the event as he recovers from surgery, the 20-time Grand Slam champion made it to Boston where he was spotted in the crowd during several matches. The former World No.1 was projected on the big screen and drew a standing ovation from the audience each time, causing play to be delayed for a few moments.
"When they turned the camera to him, the whole place went nuts," said Reilly Opelka, who represented Team World during the tournament. "Crazy the power one guy in the room can have and just change the mood of everyone in there. Only a couple of guys in the world can do that, and Roger is one of them"
