Milos Raonic and Reilly Opelka advanced into semifinals at the 2020 Delray Beach Open, joined by Ugo Humbert and Yoshihito Nishioka.
The no. 6 at the tournament, Ugo Humbert started the day with the most dominant victory out of all quarterfinal matches. The Frenchman faced Francis Tiafoe who defeated Emiliano Gomez and
Tommy Paul before. However, Humbert did not give his opponent chance, defeating him 6-1, 6-2 in just 72 minutes.
The match was followed by the longest and probably the most attractive match of the day. Brandon Nakashima took on Yoshihito Nishioka and match brought 3 stunning sets. The American began the set with a 6-3 victory in the first set. However, Nishioka outplayed him in the tie-break of the second set to force the third decisive set. There it was a Japanese player that managed to win the set 6-4 and book the semifinal spot in Delray Beach.
The fourth-seeded
Reilly Opelka faced Soon-Woo Kwon in his quarterfinal match. After the unsuccessful beginning of the season in Australia, Opelka is playing in a very good form in the United States. Kwon was not a hurdle for him when he managed to defeat the Korean 6-3, 6-4 in just 67 minutes.
After
the withdrawal of Nick Kyrgios, Milos Raonic became the biggest favorite to win the title. And the Canadian confirms his role in Delray Beach so far. After defeating Istomin and Stebe in 2 sets he added another two-set victory in the quarterfinals. Raonic outplayed Steve Johnson 7-6, 6-3 to set up a semifinal clash with Opelka.
