While there have been ups and downs, 2025 has been a season to rejoice for Jannik Sinner. When on the court, mostly one scenario occurs: Sinner leaves victorious. This is shown by a staggering points record he has accumulated this year, winning 56.45% of his points. It is the highest in ATP history.
He was one half of a ferocious duo who dominated the ATP Circuit this year, with Carlos Alcaraz sweeping up a shed load of titles and wins. In the end, the Spaniard ended out slightly on top. More titles, more wins, and the coveted number one ranking spot, which he will look to cement at the Australian Open when the 2026 season commences.
It will be something that the Italian desperately wants back. He finished his campaign with another ATP Finals title, backing up the success he enjoyed last year. He was dominant throughout that campaign, not dropping a set to clinch the title in fabulous fashion. He has put an end to his season to focus on recuperating before tennis goes Down Under. This means that he is not competing for Italy in the ongoing Davis Cup Finals.

Sinner continues to rack up historical records

It is incredible how many points Sinner has won this year. His record shows that he has not just won a lot of matches but dominated in them too. He has competed in 12 events in total on the ATP Tour, coming out on top in a staggering six of them. He failed to reach the final on two occasions, once in the Halle Open where an inform Alexander Bublik caused a seismic shock, and the other a retirement in the round-of-32 in the Shanghai Masters against Tallon Griekspoor.
In total, Sinner won 56.45% of all the points he competed in. It may not seem like a huge amount, but in tennis it is a lot. Points are easily won and lost throughout matches. It is a given that your more than likely going to lose a number of points on your opponent's serve, for example. Another way of looking at it is the while Sinner has won 56% of his points this year, his adversaries when facing up to him has won 44% of them.
This stat narrowly beats Rafael Nadal 2012's campaign. He racked up a phenomenal 56.07% of points won. Similar to Sinner, Nadal missed a lot of tennis in this season, but he still boasted strong results in the majority of events he participated in. The only other player to have 56% or over is Novak Djokovic. He achieved this legendary feet back in 2011, having 56% of points won. He won six tournaments from eleven finals competed, playing in a lot more tennis than Sinner completed this year.
His arch-rival, Alcaraz, sits a margin behind Sinner in 2025 having come out on top in 54% of points. He played a significant amount more tennis than Sinner, but a slow start to the season by his lofty standards may have lowered the total slightly. He suffered a disappointing quarter-final exit to Djokovic in the Australian Open ahead of a disappointing Sunshine double in Indian Wells and Miami.
If the duo continues to streak ahead of the competition in 2026, who knows how high these tallies can go. The only thorn in their armour is each other. While Alcaraz seems to have the beating of Sinner on a more consistent basis, the 24-year-old is still a very dangerous opponent and has won some big titles against him, specifically Wimbledon in a surprise result. They are expected to pick up where they left off next year, with another season of utter dominance on the cards.
