In the American city of Dallas, we had two Americans battle it out at the first-ever tennis tournament in Dallas and it was Reilly Opelka who took home the trophy.
The American played a brilliant event getting to the final without dropping a set and without facing a single break point. It's an unbelievable achievement that comes on a court that heavily favours the American style of tennis. Strong serves and power groundstrokes do well and Opelka was able to use that this entire week. He faced up and coming Jenson Brooksby who proved himself a big talent once more.
This match went largely as expected as both players were really dominant on their own serve. The courts reward such play and it was on full display in the final. Neither Opelka nor Brooksby dropped their serve in the match which is why both sets were ended in the tiebreak. In the crucial moments, it was the older American that proved better.
He won the first one with 7-5 and the 2nd one with 7-3. Opelka hit 17 aces in the final but he did not keep his break point streak alive. He faced one break point in this match and that was the only break point he faced all event. Nonetheless, he won the trophy and he will make his top 20 debut tomorrow.
