Roger Federer won his 3rd round
Wimbledon match against Cameron Norrie booking a spot in the 2nd week of the Grand Slam.
It was a great performance by Federer who is looking better with every match he plays at SW19 and by reaching the 2nd week he achieved something that hasn't been done in a very long time.
Back in 1975, Ken Rosewall reached the 2nd week of Wimbledon at age 40 which was a new record at the time. He became the oldest player to ever do it and it was his last Wimbledon ever. Now many years later Roger Federer did a very similar thing by reaching the 2nd week at age 39.
Federer is only a month away from his 40th birthday which will come on August 8th but by reaching the 2nd round Federer became the oldest player since Ken in 1975 to ever do it. It's an amazing achievement especially considering the time it took for someone to do it again. What's even more special for Federer is that the victory was his 1250th career match win.
