Roland Garros has officially announced that
Roger Federer has withdrawn from Roland Garros.
Roland Garros released a statement that explains the reasoning behind the decision of Roger Federer to withdraw from Roland Garros R4. He was scheduled to play Matteo Berrettini. Federer hinted at the possibility after his match last night saying that he would need to see how he feels in the morning before committing to play. He has stated numerous times this season that his main goal is Wimbledon and the Olympics.
The Press release reads:
After dicusssions with my team, I have decided I will need to pull out of the Roland Garros today. After two knee surgeries and over a year of rehabilition it's important that I listen to my body and make sure I don't push myself too quickly on my road to recovery. I am thrilled to have gotten 3 matches under my belt. There is no greater feeling than being back on the court."
