Stefanos Tsitsipas is through to the quarterfinals of
Roland Garros after defeating
Pablo Carreno Busta 6-2 6-3 7-5.
The Greek play amazing tennis the moment he stepped on the court asserting himself as the more dominant player. Carreno Busta is a tricky player to beat as he does not have too many oscillations in a match maintaining a consistent level throughout the match.
Against Tsitsipas it did not matter as was on fire from the start. He dominated the rally with his forehand and Carreno simply could not find a way to counter that. Tsitsipas blasted 16 winners and only 6 unforced errors in the first set which he won with 6-2.
More or less a similar thing happened in the 2nd set but this time around both players played a bit less aggressive than in the opening set. Tsitsipas once again served well and dominated the rallies posting a 10-2 ratio of winners and errors which was more than enough to win the set 6-3.
The 3rd one was a bit tougher for the Greek as he found himself down early 0-3. Carreno played better and was hitting his winners in key rallies which gave him the early lead. His level dropped off towards the end of the set and Tsitsipas rallied not only to tie it up but also take a lead which he converted into a 7-5 3rd set victory.
A good match from Tstisipas who is one win away from matching his success from last year when he was a
French Open semifinalist.
