Fans on social media lambasted the interviewer for ‘rude’
questions to Australia’s
Alex de Minaur. The 25-year-old secured a memorable
win over Spain’s legendary tennis star and crowd favourite
Rafael Nadal in
the
Barcelona Open round of 32 with a score of 7-5, 6-1 on Wednesday.
“I think you could be the most unpopular person in
Barcelona. Are you ok with that?” asked the interviewer after the match. “I can
say I’m very very fortunate I didn’t play Rafa a couple years earlier on clay.
It would’ve been a very very different result,” was the response of De Minaur.
That question did not go down well with the fans on social
media who were quick to highlight that it was a rude way to ask anything like
that. "Rudest question ever", one user wrote. "These
"journalists" are awful with their questions ugh", another user
wrote.
The joy of beating Nadal, who was coming back to action
after a break of nearly four months following his injury in the Brisbane
International, did not last long for De Minaur who was eventually beaten by
France’s Arthur Fils in the round of 16 clash of the mega-event on Thursday in
straight sets with a score of 7-5, 6-2.
