Holger Rune will take on
Fabio Fognini at the
Rome Open on Sunday and the Dane predicted a rather wild atmosphere, similar to what he faced against Sinner in Monte-Carlo.
Italian fans show a lot of support to their players and they are quite passionate. They don't mind booing either and that's what happened to Rune during his electric clash with Sinner at the Monte-Carlo Masters. Fognini has been playing really strong tennis right now so we should expect a really good match. Rune certainly expects it:
It's going to be wild, for sure. But this is great
because this is what tennis is about. You already hear the football
match [atmosphere] now and this is great, it's fun. It brings tennis to
another level and I'm super excited for it."
In the same post-match interview, Rune credited rising star Arthur Fils for putting up a great battle in his first match at the event in the Italian Capital:
"He made it tough. He's young, younger than me. It feels kind of
crazy because I think this is the second time in my life I'm playing
someone that's younger. For sure he's in the right direction and I wish him all the best. He's a nice guy."
