Sebastian Korda has revealed his goal to break through into the top 20 in the ATP Ranking for the first time in his career.
The American is currently ranked at No. 33 in the world. This week, he is competing at the ATP 250 Zhuhai Championships where he will be hoping for a deep run after crashing out of the US Open in the first round.
His career-high ranking is World No. 25 which he achieved in July of this year. However, a string of early exits from tournaments saw him drop out of the top 30. He did show his talent at the Winston-Salem Open, where he reached the semi-finals, but he was ultimately forced to pull out due to injury.

Korda: I want to end the year in the Top 20

Speaking to ATP Tour, Korda opened up on his goals and his hopes of achieving them.
"My goal at the start of the year was to finish Top 20, Top 25. That's still my goal. If I have a couple of good weeks, [I have] a good chance to do it. I have a lot of weeks ahead of me, and, hopefully, I’ll have some good results to finish the year and prepare for next year," he said.
Korda also revealed his optimism ahead of his campaign in Zhuhai, saying that the surface there is similar to indoor hard courts which he prefers.
"It hasn't been easy, for sure. But I enjoy these types of conditions playing here. It is kind of like indoor tennis, [which is] definitely one of my favourites," he continued.
Korda has also praised the location of the tournament and the fans. This is the first time in four years that ATP events have been held in China after strict COVID-19 restrictions made it difficult to compete there.
"It's actually a very, very beautiful place. [I’m] staying in a great hotel and have a great view of the whole city. It is very easy to be here. [I’m] very relaxed. A lot of the players on the Tour said how great the crowds are here, the fans. People love tennis here… so I’m expecting a good week from the fans," he said.

Sebastian Korda is back in a Grand Slam 2nd week for the first time since 2021 Wimbledon 7-6, 6-3, 7-6 against the 2-time finalist Daniil Medvedev Med will leave the Top 10 after the Australian Open for the first time since 2019 Sebi up to #28 in the live ranking
