Alexander Zverev

Alexander Zverev has been enjoying a solid US Open run which saw him overcome adversity and display fascinating level on his own serve.

His stellar serving continued in this match as well especially early which saw him cruise to an easy 6-2 first set victory. He was greatly helped by Davidovich Fokina who entered the match very nervous unable to win his own serve. Ultimately the Spaniard surrendered his serve twice while never having a breakpoint of his own.
That would change dramatically in the 2nd set when Fokina looked much more comfortable on the court even taking an early 2-0 lead. Zverev didn't take time to respond and he immediately became more aggressive winning 4 games in a row. His serving was solid during that stretch but he allowed the Spaniard chances in every game. Luckily for him, so did Davidovich Fokina and unlike the Spaniard, the German was clinical. One more break and it was 6-2 for Zverev again.
The 3rd set was surprisingly even easier for Sasha. He completely destroyed Davidovich Fokina in this one with the Spaniard only winning one service game and it was the first game in the set. Since then it was all Zverev who served well, played well and took advantage of every chance he got. He didn't preserve his streak of not surrendering his serve but his play was even more impressive than before and he looks like a real threat to the US Open trophy.
