Sofia Open is set to replace the ATP event was scheduled to take place in Tel Aviv for one year.
The ATP event was set to be organised in the city of Israel but due to an ongoing armed conflict in the region, the tournament will not take place this year.
It is for this reason the ATP has officially announced that the Sofia Open has been added to the calendar for just one year.
The tournament will be organized by the Bulgarian Tennis Federation and the prize money will be worth more than half a million Euros.
BTF President Stefan Tzvetkov was quoted in a report where he expressed his excitement about the tournament being organised in the country
“We’re excited to host ATP Tour tennis back in the historic city of Sofia again,” he said. “It goes without saying that we wish the circumstances were different, and our thoughts remain with all those affected by the terrible conflict.
“Our appreciation goes to ATP, the Bulgarian Government, the Municipality, and our team. We look forward to working together with ATP to deliver a successful event for the players and the incredible fans of Bulgaria.”
