The top seeds Stefanos Tsitsipas and Alexander Zverev will compete in the title clash of the ATP 500 event in Acapulco following straight-sets semi-final victories on Friday.
Zverev prevailed over a compatriot Dominik Koepfer 6-4, 7-6 in two hours and nine minutes for his 23rd ATP final, winning eight points more than his opponents and moving forward with one extra break on his tally. The better-ranked player opened a 4-1 lead in the opener and closed it with a hold in game ten for 6-4.
Koepfer fended off four break chances in the second set's seventh game to forge a 5-2 advantage, serving for the set two games later. Alexander pulled the break back in the last moment and grabbed a tie break 7-5 to seal the deal and move over the top without playing a decider.
Stefanos Tsitsipas is through to his 13th ATP final thanks to a 6-1, 6-3 win over the Italian teenager Lorenzo Musetti in an hour and 19 minutes. Stefanos lost 15 points in eight service games and never faced a break point, stealing almost half of the return points and earning four breaks that carried him home.
The Greek moved in front with breaks in games four and six in the opener, and they stayed close to each other in the second set's first six games. From 3-2 down, Tsitsipas claimed four straight games to build the advantage and cross the finish line.
