Stefanos Tsitsipas has had a very underwhelming Tokyo
Olympic Games but the Greek does not regret going.
Stefanos Tsitsipas travelled to Tokyo for the Olympic Games in hopes of securing a medal for Greece. Tsitsipas often spoke about his strong patriotism and need to represent Greece in the best possible light. The Greek candidly spoke about his desire to see tennis grow back home as it's not a popular sport.
Considering all of that, Tsitispas had a lacklustre run at the Olympics exiting early in the singles and the mixed doubles. Tsitsipas did not offer any post-event comments as athletes were required to leave the Olympic Village quickly after getting out of the competition.
He did offer sort of a statemenet on his Twitter where he wrote:
“Win or lose, these are the kind of milestones as an athlete that will stay with you as you grow older. Representing my home country of Greece at the Olympics has been an unbelievable experience.”
The Tokyo Olympic Games won't be the last games the Greek takes part in and he should be ready to go for Paris 2024. Tsitsipas now turns his attention to the North American hard-court season where he could possibly do some damage.
He is in need of finding some good form however he won't play at any events ahead of the National Bank Open in Toronto.
