Greece’s tennis star
Stefanos Tsitsipas achieved yet another
milestone after an impressive outing in the
Paris Masters.
The 25-year-old defeated Karen Khachanov in the quarterfinal
of the competition in straight sets with a score of 6-3, 6-4.
With that win, Tsitsipas became the first player who was born
in 1998 or later to win 300 matches at the highest level of tennis.
The current world number six will be hoping that his recent
form will continue so that he can go all the way and finish the year on a high
after a disappointing few months.
Tsitsipas is now set to face off Bulgaria’s Grigor Dimitrov
in the semifinal of the competition on Saturday.
It will be the eighth time when both players will face off on
the tennis court. In the previous seven meetings, Tsitsipas had a clear edge as
he emerged victorious on six occasions and suffered just a solitary defeat.
The previous meeting between the two took place in the
United Cup Australia earlier this year where the Athens-born came out on top
with a score of 4-6, 6-2, 7-6.
Dimitrov’s only win against his Saturday opponent came way
back in 2020 in Vienna where he secured the triumph with a score of 6-7, 6-4,
6-3.
