The match between
Carlos Alcaraz and
Jannik Sinner began at the
ATP Finals in Turin, and there was quickly a medical emergency just three games into the match. The duel was quite even from the start, with Carlitos taking a 2-1 advantage in the first set when the match was interrupted.
The interruption was due to a medical emergency in the crowd, which forced a halt to the match. Sinner was serving, and after a double fault and a score of 40-40 on his serve, a medical emergency occurred in the stands—another one at the tournament.
The ATP Finals have, in fact, had several medical emergencies this week. On the very first day, two people were reported to have died in the vicinity of the sports complex in Turin. Now, another person, who apparently fainted, was added to the incidents, necessitating a pause in the match while they were taken out of the stadium for medical attention.
From Crowd Emergency to Player Injury: Alcaraz Requires Treatment
Adding to the unusual evening, Carlos Alcaraz himself required medical attention later in the first set. At 5–4 up in the ninth game, he appeared to be hampered by a hamstring issue and called for the trainer. After losing the opening set, the Spaniard needed strapping applied to the affected area before continuing.
