Despite reports to the contrary from Serbian media outlet Blic this week, Novak Djokovic is not yet out of the ATP Cup shrouding more mystery around his Australian Open participation.
They said that he would not be taking part in the tournament quoting a source close to the 20-time Grand Slam champion that there was 99 per cent chance he wouldn't play.
He is yet to travel to Australia with his status needing to be known soon with Casper Ruud pencilled in on New Years Day.
“No withdrawals from Team Serbia,” a TA spokesperson said.
It continues the debacle regarding his vaccination status and whether the World No.1 will take up his place in a line-up which already doesn't include Roger Federer and Dominic Thiem. According to the ATP, 95 out of the top 100 players are jabbed meaning a nearly complete field in Melbourne next month.
“If Novak shows up at the Australian Open, he’ll either be vaccinated or he’ll have a medical exemption,” Tiley said.
“[It’s] his choice on his medical condition, it’s his choice to keep personal and private, like all of us would do, with any condition we may or may not have. We are not going to force him or ask him to disclose that.”
