Dominic Thiem will not play at the 2022
Australian Open as the biggest name casualty so far in the Men's draw in Melbourne.
Thiem was set to return to action but withdrew from Abu Dhabi recently as well as multiple pre Australian Open warm-up tournaments giving the notion that he would potentially skip the first Grand Slam of the year.
As a result, he will begin his season as previously announced at the
Cordoba Open in Argentina at the end of January which is played on clay and will take in the South American swing on his return to action.
He will now continue to train and get ready for his first tournament of the season with his full statement below.
