Daniil Medvedev is leading the charge to dethrone
Novak Djokovic from the number one spot and the Russian has no worries about tennis in the future.
Many tennis fans wonder how much the popularity of tennis will suffer after the big three retire. Novak Djokovic,
Rafael Nadal, and
Roger Federer elevated tennis to new heights during their tremendous run in the game that is lasting over 15 years. Daniil Medvedev is one of the newer players that is going to keep the game going after they retire and he believes it will be fine.
He said:
"That is, new great champions always came, and tennis became more and more popular. Of
course, Roger, Novak, and Rafa have broken every record imaginable and
unthinkable, but I am sure that after their departure there will be new
heroes who will make people fall in love with tennis."
Medvedev furher said on the same topic:
"Tennis is a great sport, so I don't see why our generation would
miss on something. Of course, maybe we don't do 20 Grand Slams, yet
nobody did before Roger, Rafa, and Novak, so they were also worse than
them if we can say like this. It's definitely not going to be a
shame. I can only talk for myself. I will try to do my best, try to
win more titles, try to be in the finals of big tournaments. Yeah, not
much more to add."
