Roger Federer is set to make a return to the court at this year's US Open in an exhibition event. He will be on court with a trio of Americans going by Andre Agassi, Andy Roddick and John McEnroe as they look to put on a show for the audience.
This will be played on Arthur Ashe at Flushing Meadows, taking place on the 25th August, days before the main draw commences. It is titled: "Roger Federer: An icon returns to New York."
While fans patiently wait for the fourth Grand Slam of the year to commence proceedings, they get to have the joy of watching four legends once more take to court. Federer is the highlight of all of this. The 20-time Grand Slam champion is widely recognised as one of the best tennis players to aver grace the court.
The Swiss won the tournament five times, all of them in a row between 2004 and 2008. He would also reach the final in 2009 and 2015, losing to Juan Manuel del Potro and Novak Djokovic. He will be very much hoping to get another win under his belt in New York, but this will only be for pride.

Federer was very much looking forward to the event. "The US Open has always been one of the most special tournaments for me," Federer said. "So many unforgettable moments of my career happened in New York, and Arthur Ashe Stadium is a place that means a great deal to me.
"I've missed being part of that atmosphere and feeling the incredible energy that the fans bring every year. To return to Arthur Ashe and share the evening with Andy, Andre and John makes it even more meaningful. I'm looking forward to celebrating those memories, seeing the fans again, and enjoying a very special night together."
In that run where he won five US Open titles in a row, Federer defeated both Agassi and Roddick to win the title. Federer enjoyed a lot of success over his fellow tennis players. Agassi was coming to the end of his career as Federer really kicked on. He managed just three wins in 11 appearances against Federer.

That was the same amount of wins that Roddick amassed, but a whole lot more matches were competed between him and Federer. In 24 attempts, Roddick could not get that winning number higher with Federer having a firm grip over the 2004 US Open champion.
Federer last competed at the US Open in 2019, reaching the quarter-final stage before losing to Grigor Dimitrov in a thrilling five-set battle. He announced shortly after that he had surgery on his knee and was forced to pull out.
